Tigerlilly's TalesI don't suffer from insanity... I enjoy every minute of it!

27 November Does anybody else find this weird?Maybe I'm inspired by my current reading "Talk to the Hand" on the decline of manners in current society, but I find it weird that while talking to Aliant about some internet difficulty (ie, I couldn't access the internet at all), while waiting for my computer to re-boot, they decide to "take this time to remind you that you can go anytime to our website where you can check your webmail from anywhere in the world". As I point out, "That's great, but that would require an Internet connection!". Was that really the appropriate time to mention that????? 13 Oktober The perfect dayToday was awesome and just what I needed after the past few weeks of stress. I started the day with breakfast with friends at the Kingston Market, homemade chocolates and the purchase of some fresh apple cider. From there, I bought some groceries at the City Market and then finished off at Superstore. I then spent my afternoon making beef & barley soup for lunch with friends tomorrow, and then cooked a big italian fiest for my friend Heather after a busy day of training with Fundy Search and Rescue. We then baked up some of my Dad's homemade apple bars, and topped off the night with a viewing of "the Holiday". I've discovered that I enjoy being domestic! Who knew?! 08 September eavesdroppingFunniest thing I overheard while running errands today: One high school goth to the other, "Yeah, my Mom won't let me get a tattoo..." (He had major black make-up on and multiple piercings... LOL)
Worst thing I overheard while running errands: A mother getting made at her 3 year old for spilling something while at the Dollar Store. When the kid said "I'm sorry Mommy", the reply he got was "Yeah, well it's 'cause you're a little jerk" I sometimes wonder whey people don't need a license to bring a child into the world... 25 Juli Home Sweet HomeSo, the last week has been a whirlwind as well as a rollercoaster! There have been moments of buyer's remorse (like when my basement flooded after 65 mm of rain), and excitement (I love how the living room is coming together - thanks Harold for helping me paint!). The house is already home-y and I love the neighbourhood, the convenience, and the neighbours. There's still a lot of "blank canvas" to work on in every room, but each room already has that comfortable lived in fee and I've had many visitors (and would love more! Drops ins are always welcome! :-) Unfortunately, I can't post pics as my computer has some control on that won't let me post to my blog and I no longer have a room-mate whose computer I can use, so you'll have to either come see it in person or check out photos on facebook. House warming/Open House is tentatively schedule for Friday evening, August 24th, so mark you calendars! :-) Thanks to everyone for the cards and email well wishes! 16 Juli countdown...So, with all the packing and planning, I wasn't really too excited about my new house (until I drove by last night and saw the current owners moving out :-P). Now, the hours can't pass fast enough! I can't wait! I will miss having a room-mate but am excited about my own space (as is she, I think). The countdown is on! 04 Juli The pluses of singleness...So, it's official. Of my main group of friends that I hang out with here in SJ, I am now officially the only single in the bunch. I am so excited for my friends and the new joys in their lives (dating, wedding planning...), and love hearing the details that they wish to share, but as the odd girl out now, it's already a bit lonely. There are moments that I'm flashing back to Grade 3 when I was always the last kid picked for soccer- baseball. So, that being said, I'm trying to focus on the positives rather than the negatives (although there are moments that the negatives still overwhelm). Thus, I'm creating a list of "Great things about being 29 and single". Feel free to add to it :-)
1) I get to eat my ice cream straight out of the container, and nobody eats what's left of it on me.
2) There are no added or surprise expenses like that fifth dinner out in a week or that extra tank of gas to go visit him in another city.
3) I can buy my own house and decide the colours and location of furniture without having to take anyone else's opinion into consideration.
4) I don't have to squeeze his over-sized furniture into my limited living space.
5) I can sleep in the middle of the double bed (or even diagonally, which I normally do).
6) I get to create entertaining conundrums for others as they try to figure out where to place me in the photo so that it doesn't throw the whole balance off.
7) I can watch chick flicks whenever I want and don't need to share the remote (I also don't have to have cable. Rabbit ears will suffice).
8) I don't need to check in with anyone when I want to make spontaneous plans to the evening, and don't have to take any one else's schedule into account when making plans.
Hmm, I was hoping to get to 10 at least, but the mental juices have run out of steam. So, to be continued... (I'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions :-) 27 Juni CongratulationsWell, it's turning out that '07 is a year for big leaps of faith and exciting news! Congratulations to two of my best friends who have recently gotten engaged! That's such exciting news! Here's to the new chapters starting in many of my friends' lives :-) |
